Radiology and Digital Imaging

Table of Content

Digital Imaging is among the most important branches of science in dentistry, from diagnosis to treatment and post-treatment evaluation.

When our patients apply to our clinic, their files are created and clinical examinations are performed first.

During this examination, our patient’s complaints and expectations are evaluated, and at this stage, radiographic imaging is needed to make the correct diagnosis and treatment planning.

The radiation emission values of radiography devices used in dental clinics are very low, but our patients who are pregnant or who are suspected of being pregnant should still inform our physicians about this.

X-rays are not taken for our patients who are pregnant or suspected of being pregnant, except in cases of necessity. In cases of necessity, an x-ray must be taken by consulting a gynecologist and taking the necessary precautions (lead apron, etc.).

Phosphor Plate Scanner

It is a radiographic imaging method taken with a special imaging sensor and a portable radiography device.

The captured image appears on the computer screen at the same time, and it is a very practical imaging system since the waiting time is not short.

With this imaging method, detailed and clear imaging of the teeth can be made.

It is used for various purposes such as diagnosis of interface caries that cannot be seen clinically by inspection (visual examination), imaging of incipient root tip inflammatory lesions, and determination of root size during root canal treatment stages.

Wrist Radiography:

It is a radiographic evaluation method used to evaluate jaw development and jaw growth processes in children.

With this imaging method, actual bone age is evaluated and orthodontic treatment planning is made according to this evaluation.

By evaluating the extent to which the anatomical structures in the wrists approach each other, it is understood how long bone development will continue.

Dental Volumetric Computed Tomography:

With this imaging method, detailed and clear images that cannot be obtained with conventional methods are obtained.

Almost error-free three-dimensional imaging of the jaw bones and teeth is achieved in a computerized environment.

It is frequently used to evaluate the amount and width of the jaw bone before the implant, as well as to see in what position the impacted teeth are located.

It also provides clear visualization of cysts and similar lesions developing in the jaw bones and their boundaries to be clearly determined.

Dental computed tomographies contain much less radiation than standard tomography devices.

It is a very important imaging method in dentistry as it minimizes the margin of error before major surgical operations.
